Active Directory credentials required to create a linked clone in View Composer
Details
To create a linked clone, you must have sufficient permissions on the Active Directory server on which the computer account will be created. The user can be from the same domain as the computer account or from a trusted domain.
Solution
To create a linked clone using Active Directory credentials, you need to make sure that users have the sufficient permissions on the Active Directory server on which the computer account will be created. The permissions required are Create Computer Objects and Delete Computer Objects.
Use the following procedure to add the Create Computer Objects and Delete Computer Objects Access Control Entries for a user.
-
From the Active Directory Users and Computers menu, click Advanced Features under the View tab so that the Security tab is exposed when you click Properties.
-
Right-click the container you used and click Properties. The default container name is Computers.
-
On the Security tab, click Advanced.
-
On the Permissions tab, select the user and click View/Edit. If a user is not listed, click Add and add the user to the list of permission entries.
-
Make sure the This object and all child objects option is displayed in the Apply onto box.
-
From the Permissions box, select the Allow check box next to the Create Computer Objects and Delete Computer Objects and click OK.
