Summary
On systems without this patch, harmless I/O error messages similar to the following:
Dec 19 12:44:30 esxhost1 kernel: I/O error: dev 08:10, sector 0 Dec 19 12:44:30 esxhost1 kernel: unable to read partition table
are logged in /var/log/messages when a removable storage device is removed or attached when the drive contains no medium. The automatic partition scan no longer prints these spurious I/O errors.
