Non-ASCII characters in the default check out folder name cause check out to fail

The default check out folder is named after the desktop name, which likely contains non-ASCII characters for users of non-ASCII systems.

To avoid this problem, users must change the check out folder to contain only ASCII characters.

This problem is fixed in View 3.1.
