Cannot Power On Virtual Machines If You Start Workstation as root When Using a GL-Based X Server

Details

You cannot power on virtual machines or resume suspended virtual machines if you start Workstation as the root user on a Linux host that uses Xgl. Xgl has been deprecated. This problem does not occur with the newer AIGLX.

Solution

Upgrade your X server to AIGLX, or run Workstation as a different user than root.
