Automatic Update of VMware Tools Might Generate the Error "VMwareUser.exe Entry Point Not Found"

Details

On Windows guests, occasionally, after an automatic update of VMware Tools occurs, you see the error message VMwareUser.exe Entry point not found. When you click OK, you might see the error message VMware Tools service stopped working.

Solution

To work around this issue:
  1. Use the Add/Remove Programs item in the Windows Control Panel to manually uninstall VMware Tools.
  2. Reinstall VMware Tools.
