Solution

Summaries and Symptoms

This patch fixes the following issues:
  • In some corner cases, SCSI reservation conflicts on a VMFS volume may prevent the log rotation of vmware.log files from functioning correctly. This patch fixes the issue.
  • After ESX Server executes translated code in memory, synchronization failure occurs when synchronizing to the loop and jrcxz instructions. This issue is resolved.

None beyond the required patch bundles and reboot information listed in the table, above.

Patch Download and Installation

Note: All virtual machines on the host must be either shut down or migrated using VMotion before applying the patch.

To update ESX Server 3.0.3 hosts when not using VMware Update Manager, download the most recent patch bundle from http://support.vmware.com/selfsupport/download/ and install the bundle using esxupdate from the command line of the host.
