This article outlines the the supported ThinApp installation methods and usage, including:

Solution
Installing from a Network Share
This article provides steps for installing from a network share:
Note: VMware recommends installing from a network share when you are perform a capture.

Install ThinApp on a clean computer, using the MSI file.

Copy the installation folder and all of it contents to a network share.

Create the THINSTALL_BIN environment variable and set it to the path of the network share. For more information, see Configuring ThinApp to run from a non-default location (1006159).

Execute the Setup Capture application directly from the network using the files in the share.
Installing a single, local Copy
To install a single, local copy of ThinApp, execute the ThinApp MSI installation package and install like any regular application. This installs the product to its default location, %ProgramFiles%\VMware\VMware ThinApp .
Installing Multiple Local Copies
To have multiple different versions of ThinApp installed on the same computer:

Install any version of ThinApp (or Thinstall) on a clean computer.

Copy the resulting application folder to the destination computer. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each additional version of ThinApp.

Create or change the THINSTALL_BIN environment variable and set it to the path of the network share. For more information, see Configuring ThinApp to run from a non-default location (1006159).

Execute the desired version of ThinApp Setup Capture.
