Troubleshooting VirtualCenter and View Manager connectivity and operation
Symptoms
-
Desktops become unavailable after upgrading the VirtualCenter server hosting Virtual Desktop Manager (VDM)
- View client desktops become unavialable after upgrading the View Manager server

All virtual desktops or pools display a red x icon
-
Unable to provision new virtual desktops
-
Unable to add new pools
-
Unable to add new virtual desktops to existing pools

You see this error:
[ServiceConnection] Problem connecting to VirtualCenter at https://vc-hostname:443/sdk (java.net.UnknownHostException: vc-hostname) com.vmware.vdi.vcsupport.ServiceConnection.b(SourceFile:280)
Resolution
To troubleshoot VirtualCenter Server and View Manager connectivity and operation:

Verify that the network connectivity to VirtualCenter Server or the View Manager server is working, responding to requests on port 902, and the DNS name resolution is working. For more information, see Testing network port connectivity with the Telnet command (1003487).

Restart the VMware View Agent/VirtualCenter and Virtual Desktop Manager services to restore connectivity.
- To restart the VMware View Agent service:
- In the View Manager server, go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
- Restart the VMware View Agent service.
- To restart VirtualCenter Server and VDM services:
- In the VirtualCenter server, go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
- Restart the VMware VirtualCenter service.
- On the any affected Virtual Desktop Manager (VDM) Connection Servers, go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
- Restart the VMware VDM Connection Server service and VMware VDMDS service.
- To restart the VMware View Agent service:
