Checking import prerequisites in VMware vCenter Lab Manager

Symptoms

  • Importing a virtual machine into a Lab Manager template fails
  • Cannot import a virtual machine to Lab Manager
  • You may receive this error:

    LabManager.Library.Core.UnsupportedException: The import process only supports ethernet0.

Resolution

To check for import prerequisites in Lab Manager:

  1. The source virtual machine can only have one network card assigned to it. Lab Manager does not support virtual machines with more than one network card.

  2. If the source virtual machine contains snapshots, you must import a cloned copy of that virtual machine.  For more information, see Importing a virtual machine with snapshots in VMware vCenter Lab Manager (1002375).

  3. The import may fail if the source folder or directory contains vmxf or nvram files. Delete these files from the source and try importing again.

  4. The virtual disk controller type on the source must be SCSI and not IDE.
