VMware Converter Agent fails to start or install with system error 1920

Symptoms

  • The user logging in has local Administrator rights
  • Converter Agent fails to start
  • Installation of the Agent fails to complete
  • You receive the following error:

    Error 1920 - Verify you have sufficient privileges to start system services

Resolution

To ensure the agents starts or installs:

  1. Click Start > Run > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
  2. Ensure that the following dependent services are not disabled. 

    For a complete list, right-click the VMware Converter Service and click Properties > Dependencies.
  • DHCP Client
  • DNS Client
  • Remote Procedure Call
  • TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper
  • Wired AutoConfig (if present)
  • Wireless Zero Configuration
  • Workstation
