Identifying the location of virtual machine files in a vSphere environment (1006737)

Purpose

This article provides steps for identifying the location of your virtual machine files.

Resolution

To identify the location of your virtual machine files:

  1. Mouse over the virtual machine name and click Properties.
  2. Record the value in the Datastore field. For example, MyStore.
  3. Record the value in the VM Directory ID field. For example, 342.
  4. The path to the virtual machine files is [Datastore]\..\VM Directory ID .  For example, [MyStore]\LM\342\..
