Cloning a Source That Contains File System Errors Might Result in a Damaged Copy

Details

If one of the source volumes has file system errors, Converter Standalone may create a corrupt volume in the target virtual machine. This could lead to lost or corrupt files, and sometimes to unbootable target virtual machine.

Solution

Run a consistency check on the source machine to check and fix any file system errors and then try converting it again.
You can use the following utilities to check the consistency of source disks:
  • For Windows sources, run the Chkdsk utility.
  • For Linux sources, run the fsck utility.
