VMware High Availability Network Compliance Check (1006606)

Details

While configuring VMware High Availability (HA) in VirtualCenter 2.5 Update 2, you see this message when you open the Task and Events tab:

HA agent on <esxhostname> in cluster <clustername> in <datacenter> has an error Incompatible HA Network:
Consider using the Advanced Cluster Settings das.allowNetwork to control network usage.

The network compliance check feature introduced in Virtual Center 2.5 Update 2 increases cluster reliability. This enhanced network compliance check also helps to ensure correct cluster-wide heartbeat network paths. This helps prevent delayed failure detection and “Split Brain” conditions in certain scenarios.

Solution

This message appears if the nodes in a cluster contain incompatible networks addresses for service console address.

To resolve this issue, ensure the service console addresses are the same across all hosts and nodes.

You can use the das.allowNetwork option to limit the networks selected for HA communication. For more information, see VirtualCenter 2.5.0 Update 2 gives error: Incompatible HA Networks (1006541).

Note: If the problem persists after the performing above procedure, uninstall/reinstall the vpxa and aam agents. For more information, see Verifying and reinstalling the correct version of the VirtualCenter Server agents (1003714).

For more information on HA enhancements for Virtual Center 2.5 Update 2, see the Resource Management Guide.
