Deploying using fenced mode fails
-
You see this error:
Not Enough Managed Server Capacity (Memory/Slots)
Could not find a valid Managed Server due to:
Insufficient slots. This deployment requires <###> MB memory and <###> slots
Resolution
You must determine if there are sufficient slots available for deploy in Lab Manager.
To determine if there are sufficient slots available for deploy in Lab Manager:
-
From the Lab Manager interface, click Servers.
-
In the Managed Servers view, the column labled #VM/Quota d isplays two numbers separated by a slash (/). The first number indicates the number of virtual machines running on the server. The second number indicates the maximum number of virtual machines allowed to run on the server.
-
The number of slots available is the quota value minus the #VM value. The slots required is reported in the message returned when the deploy fails. Compare these values to determine if enough slots are available for the operation.
Note: Deploying a configuration in fenced mode places all the virtual machines on a single host. At least one host under management must have enough slots to host all of the virtual machines in the configuration. -
If you recieve the stated errors when enough slots are available:
-
Ensure that each virtual machine is not dependent on saved state as described in the Lab Manager User's Guide for version 2.5 and Lab Manager User's Guide for version 4.0.
-
It is possible that a revert point for the virtual machine exists, and revert points are CPU dependent. You may discard the revert point as described in the Lab Manager 2.5.3 release notes for version 2.5 and vCenter Lab Manager Documentation for all other versions.
-
If the virtual machine is 64-bit, ensure each host has VT enabled. For more information see Verify VT setting is properly configured (3282933).
