Troubleshooting an Unable to connect error in ThinApp

Symptoms

  • The application fails to launch
  • The application launches but fails with an error message similar to:

    Unable to connect

Resolution

Validate that each troubleshooting step below is true for your environment. The steps will provide instructions or a link to a document, for validating the step and taking corrective action as necessary. The steps are ordered in the most appropriate sequence to isolate the issue and identify the proper resolution. Please do not skip a step.

  1. Ensure that all the software dependencies required to run the application were captured in the package. For more information, see Troubleshooting application dependency and capture issues in ThinApp (1006994).
  2. Confirm that the isolation modes set for the package, folders, and registry keys are set to the correct mode for the desired operation, or try running the application in a different isolation mode to see if it connects. For more information, see Verifying isolation mode usage in ThinApp (1006991).
  3. Verify that any necessary service or network server resources are available to the application. Certain services may be required to start the application and must be available to it when virtualized. For more information, see Ensuring services or network servers are available to the application (1007177).
  4. Confirm that the problem is not listed as a known issue in the ThinApp Release Notes.
