Stage Manager Installation Fails in Compressed or Encrypted Folders (1005703)

Details

Installing Stage Manager on a machine with compressed drives or folders might generate these errors:
 
SQL Server Setup cannot install files to the compressed or encrypted folder: <folder_name>.
 
Error 1720 There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.
 
Error 1620 - Fatal error during installation.
 

Solution

Install Stage Manager in a folder that is not compressed or encrypted.
 
To address the error message about SQL Server installing files to a compressed or encrypted folder
  1. Leave the message open.
  2. Uncompress the parent folder.
  3. Click Retry in the error message.
