Ensuring validity of Subscription Contracts to receive product upgrades
Purpose
Resolution
VMware offers Support and Subscription (SnS) contracts with software license purchases. If you choose to purchase a SnS contract with your product, you receive new version upgrades of that product free under the Subscription component of SnS. This free offer continues until the contract expires, unless you renew the contract.
For example, customers with valid Support and Subscription are entitled to receive any new major and minor releases made generally available by VMware. For such customers, moving from VMware Infrastructure 3 to VMware Sphere 4 is an entitlement, and does not entail an additional charge.

If you have a list of VMware SnS contracts, ensure to renew them before they expire.
- Navigate to VMware Accounts portal
- Login with your VMware account login credentials and select Manage Support Contracts under Login to drop down.
If any of your contracts have expired or are nearing expiry, you can fill out the contract renewal form.
Locating Fulfilled Licenses
Fulfilled Licenses to the latest version are can be viewed only by a License Administrator. Fulfilled vSphere 4 licenses can be located on the Manage Product License page. For more information on locating your licenses, see Finding your VMware licenses on the Account Management Portal (1005509)
