User names with more than 20 characters are not supported by VDM Web Access

Details

When creating the user name in Active Directory you can use up to 256 characters. The user name is shortened by the VDM Administrator user interface and the user is not able to log in. VirtualCenter Web access also has similar behavior.

Solution

Keep user names to 20 characters or less for Web Access.
