Summaries and Symptoms
Issues fixed in this patch (and their relevant symptoms, if applicable) include:
- Emulex and QLogic Fibre Channel driver names in the file /etc/modules.conf have been updated with the correct version names for ESX Server 3.5. (PR 281468)
Symptoms: During an ESX Server 3.5 patch installation, the esxupdate utility returned the following error message while trying to install the kernel-vmnix RPM: No module lpfcdd_7xx found for kernel 2.4.21-47.0.1.ELvmnix, aborting. The initrd image was not rebuilt and various issues were seen after the host was rebooted.
A similar error message was seen for systems with a QLogic FC driver, but the error message returned included: No module qla4010_324 found …
Note: Any driver name listed in the /etc/modules.conf file that doesn't exist on the system will cause a similar error.
Deployment Considerations
None beyond the required patch bundles and reboot information listed in the table, above.
