Screen Resolution Does Not Change After VMware Tools Installation

After installing VMware Tools on a Windows Vista Service Pack (SP1) virtual machine, the screen resolution does not change to 1024 by 768 pixels automatically. 

Solution

The current workaround is to modify the screen resolution manually.

To modify the screen resolution manually: 

1. Click Start>Control Panel.

2. Under Appearance and Personalization, click Adjust screen resolution.

3. Move the resolution slider to 1024 by 768 pixels, and click Apply.
