After connecting VMware Infrastructure Client to VirtualCenter you see the error: Input string was not in a correct format

Symptoms

  • After connecting VMware Infrastructure (VI) Client to VirtualCenter, you see the error:

    Input string was not in a correct format
  • This error also occurs when you select any host or virtual machine
  • The VMware Host Update Utility that installs with the VI Client may also produce this error

Resolution

This issue can occur if the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International\sPositiveSign has an incorrect value in the Windows Registry. You must reset the value.
