 Resolved Issues specific to ESX Server 3.5 Update 1

1. Fixed an issue where ESX Server 3.5.0 might require manual RPM installation after upgrading from ESX Server 3.01 and 3.0.2 (1003801).
2. 2.5.x tarball upgrade to ESX Server 3.5.0 succeeds but the subsequent patch installation on the ESX Server 3.5 fails.
3. Fixed an issue where patches fail to install on a host upgraded from ESX Server 3.0.x that has patches installed.
4. Fixed an issue where after an upgrade, esxupdate -l query shows removed RPMs as missing. The removed RPMs are ones that are obsoleted by new RPMs and removed during the upgrade.
5. Fixed an issue where the installation of ESX Server 3.5.0 fails when Fibre Channel HBA is connected and shared storage is presented. The error reported is, Runtime Error:Checking the size of a partition which has not been allocated yet.
6. Fixed an issue where the ESX Server 3.5 Installer repeatedly reports the error: Attempt to read sectors 38912-38912 outside of partition on /devsdX.
7. Fixed an issue where the stopping or starting of mgmt-vmware service causes virtual machines configured with auto start or stop to unexpectedly restart. For more information, see Restarting hostd (mgmt-vmware) on ESX Server hosts restarts hosted virtual machines where virtual machine Startup/Shutdown is enabled (1003312).
8. Fixed an issue where the CIM provider package cim-smwg does not get installed in an upgrade to ESX Server 3.5 from previous versions of ESX Server (2.x or 3.0.x).
9. Fixed an issue where the Dell RAID controller firmware version is referenced incorrectly in the VMware Infrastructure Client (VI Client).
10. Fixed an issue where esxstop reports negative values for system resource usage.
11. Fixed an issue where VMotion migration in low memory situations causes an ESX Server 3i host to stop responding.
12. Fixed an issue where the VMFS partition is created by the Installer in the typical installation if Installer detects a previous ESX Server installation.
13. Fixed an issue where ESX 3.5 installations fail with the error: return partition.geom.length. Attribute error: NoneObject object has no attribute geom.
14. Fixed a security issue with the OpenPegasus package. See CVE-2008-0003 for details.
15. Fixed a security issue with the e2fsprogs package. See CVE-2007-5497 for details.
16. Fixed an issue where esxupdate --nosigcheck may re-install an existing package.
17. Added an option to create a non-root user during installation.
18. Fixed a security issue with Samba package. See CVE-2007-4572 and CVE-2007-5135 for details.
19. Fixed a security issue with the util-linux package. See CVE-2007-5191 for details.
20. Fixed a security issue with a Perl package. See CVE-2007-5116 for details.
21. Fixed a security issue with the openssl package. See CVE-2007-3108 or CVE-2007-5135 for details.
22. Updated the tzdata package to version tzdata-2007h to support additional timezone changes.

Resolved issues specific to ESX Server 3i Update 1 (Embedded and Installable)

1. Fixed an issue where DCUI shutdown or restart takes longer than the DCUI screensaver time out and displays the incorrect window in the foreground.
2. Fixed an issue where an ESX Server 3i host fails to create a VMFS partition on local disks with an existing vendor partition.
3. Fixed an installation issue where ESX Server 3i Installable displays an unreadable message after the initial "loading a VMware ISO image" screen.

Resolved Issues for ESX Server 3.5 Update 1 and ESX Server 3i Update 1 (Embedded and Installable}

1. Fixed an issue where two snapshots are assigned the same VMFS volume label even after they are resignatured.
2. Fixed an issue in the tg3 driver where some systems show correct link state if the cable is plugged.
3. Fixed an issue where the creation of a virtual switch in ESX Server 3.5 or ESX Server 3i host fail with the error, A general system error occurred at line number 7, not well formed (invalid token) .
4. Fixed an issue in the bnx2 driver where MTU size change can cause the ESX host to stop responding.
5. Fixed an issue where the un-registration of a powered off virtual machine in an ESX Server host in maintenance mode fails with the error: A general system error: Invalid Fault .
6. Fixed an issue where a virtual machine running SUSE Linux Enterprise 9 may fail to respond when performing a suspend/resume operation.
7. Fixed an issue where Ubuntu 7.1 tools installation fails because vmxnet module fails to build on 2.6.22+ kernels. Another symptom is the unloading of vmxnet module by /etc/init.d/services fails.
8. Fixed an issue where VMotion causes the remote console of a virtual machine to go blank. For more information, see VMotion from ESX Server 3.5 Hosts to ESX Server 3.0.x Hosts Causes the Console Sessions of the Migrated Virtual Machines to Become Blank (1003038).
9. Added pre-built modules for SLES 9 SP4 32 and 64bit guest operating systems.
10. Fixed an issue where some 10G NC510C or NC510F Ethernet cards mar not get detected during a fresh installation.
11. Fixed an issue where attempting to Storage VMotion the persistent disks and configuration files of a virtual machine with independent-persistent disks fails.
12. Fixed an issue where the ESX Server may fail to respond when the identity of a LUN changes unexpectedly due to certain disk array configuration events.
13. Fixed an issue where a change of CPU maximum and overhead limit settings may cause hostd to stop responding
14. Fixed an issue where the VMkernel may not report NIC failure on HP C-class Blades.
