Pegasus Error Message Seen While Upgrading or Installing ESX Server 3.5 Update 1 (1004257)
Details
The processing of Pegasus fails two times with the following error message:
Processing /var/pegasus/vmware/install_queue/2 [FAILED]
ERROR: See log - /var/pegasus/vmware/install_queue/2.log
"Cimom not responding"
The service startup status displays these messages during the boot process.
This issue occurs after you upgrade an ESX Server 2.x or 3.x system to ESX Server 3.5 Update 1, or after you perform a new installation of Update 1.
Solution
This is a known issue in ESX Server 3.5 Update 1. The error does not impact the core functionality of Pegasus or CIM.
To fully resolve this issue and ensure that all Pegasus functionality is available to the system, upgrade to ESX Server 3.5 Update 2.
