Creating a single-host license file to include VMware Consolidated Backup (1003578)
Symptoms
If you are using VMware Infrastructure 3 and VMware Consolidated Backup (VCB), you may experience the following symptoms:
-
You cannot create a license file
-
Single-host expecting only one product type
-
Invalid product selected for VMware Infrastructure 3 single-host license
Purpose
Resolution
To create a single-host license file to include VCB:
-
Create these two separate host-based (single-host) license files:
-
One VMware Infrastructure 3 Foundation or Standard license
-
One VCB license
Note: For more information, see Creating a Single Host and Centralized License file in the VI3 License Portal (1005132).
-
-
Download both of the license files and open each of them separately in a text editor. Copy and paste the contents of one file to the bottom of the other. Save the newly combined license file with a .lic extension.
-
Connect to the ESX host with the VMware Infrastructure Client and upload this combined license file. For more information, see Installing ESX Server Licenses (1001383).
