Changing an ESX Server's connection status in VirtualCenter
Purpose
Resolution
Disconnecting an ESX Server from VirtualCenter
To disconnect an ESX Server from VirtualCenter:
-
Login to the Virtual Infrastructure Client.

Right click on the ESX Server in the Inventory.
-
Click Disconnect.
Note: A Disconnect Host task appears in the Recent Tasks pane.

Wait until the task status changes to Complete.
Connecting an ESX Server to VirtualCenter
To connect an ESX Server to VirtualCenter:

Login to the Virtual Infrastructure Client.

Right click on the ESX Server in the Inventory.
-
Click Connect.
Note: A Reconnect Host task appears in the Recent Tasks pane.

Wait until the task status changes to Complete.
Testing reconnection of an ESX Server to VirtualCenter
To diagnose communication problems between an ESX Server and VirtualCenter, VMware recommends that you disconnect the ESX Server and then reconnect it.
To test reconnection of an ESX Server to VirtualCenter:

Login to the Virtual Infrastructure Client.
Note: If your ESX Server is already disconnected proceed to step 5 below.

Right click on the ESX Server in the Inventory.

Click Disconnect.
Note: A Disconnect Host task appears in the Recent Tasks pane.

Wait until the task status changes to Complete.

Right click on the ESX Server from the Inventory.

Click Connect.
Note: A Reconnect Host task appears in the Recent Tasks pane.

Wait until the task status changes to Complete.
