ESX Server 3i Installable Can Boot Only from Hard Disk with Lowest or Highest SCSI ID
Details
Due to system BIOS limitations, ESX Server 3i can boot only from the hard disk with the lowest or highest SCSI ID, but not from other local SCSI disks. The attempt to boot fails if the installation is on a different hard disk.
Solution
You can resolve this issue in one of two ways:
-
Install the ESX Server 3i build on the hard disk that has the lowest or highest SCSI ID, that is, on the hard disk that corresponds to SCSI ID =0.
-
Relocate the hard disk to the slot that has the lowest or highest SCSI ID, if possible.
