Consolidation of Large or Deeply Nested Snapshots Using VirtualCenter, SDK, or VCB Might Take Longer on ESX Server 3.5 than on ESX Server 3.0.x

Details

A change to the asynchronous consolidation algorithm has been made to better handle virtual machines running with high I/O loads. As a result, such operations as the removal of large snapshots or removal of deeply nested snapshot trees consisting of large snapshots, might take longer on ESX Server 3.5 than the same operations on ESX Server 3.0.x.

This delay only occurs during snapshot removal operations. All other snapshot operations and virtual machine I/O operations to snapshots are not affected.

Solution

Because this is not a defect, but rather an expected behavior, no action is required.
