Using Analysis for Consolidation in VirtualCenter Server For the First Time Might Result in Non-Responsive VI Client

When you click the "Analyze physical computers for consolidation" link in the VirtualCenter Getting Started tab, or when you click the Start Analysis button in the Analysis tab, the following message might appear:
 
VirtualCenter must gather more information to enumerate the domains and workgroups in the enterprise. This may take several minutes. Try again later.
 
Sometimes, this message does not go away even after more than an hour, and VirtualCenter appears frozen.
This problem appears only when you perform the analysis the first time.
This problem appears most frequently if servers with non-ASCII character names are included in the VirtualCenter inventory.

Solution

Restart the VirtualCenter Server or wait for twenty-four hours. This problem occurs only with a new installation and will never be seen again.
