VMware Consolidated Backup 1.1 Command-Line Utility Connection to Port 902 Causes an Error Message
Details
If any of your VCB 1.1 command-line utilities tries to connect to port 902, you get the following error message:
Error: Other error encountered: SSL Exception: error:1408F10B:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_RECORD:wrong version number
Solution
VCB 1.1 needs to connect to ESX Server or VirtualCenter on port 443 (HTTPS) rather than 902, which was used by VCB 1.0.x. VCB 1.1 defaults to port 443 if no port number is specified.
If you encounter this error, make sure that PORT is not set to 902 in the following files:
-
<VCB-Installdir>/config/config.js (Windows)
-
/etc/vmware/backuptools.conf (ESX Server service console)
