Cannot Specify Destination Folder on Non-Default Datacenter when Cloning Virtual Machines (1003075)

Details

When cloning a virtual machine, if you specify a destination virtual machine folder that is not on the default datacenter that is presented in the wizard, your choice is ignored and the default datacenter is used.

Solution

Use one of the following solutions.

Solution 1

Clone to the datacenter directly (choose the datacenter itself, not a folder within it) and then move the clone to its final destination after the clone task completes.

Solution 2

When you first see a page in the wizard where you must select a destination:

Select the destination datacenter itself rather than the desired folder within it.
Click Next and immediately click Back.
Select the desired folder and click Next again.
Complete the wizard.
