Error Message During Installation: error 1603: error installing Windows installer engine (1003036)

Details

On systems running Windows Server 2003 SP1, launching the VirtualCenter Server, VI Client, VMware Update Manager, or unified installers produces the InstallShield error message:

error 1603: error installing Windows installer engine

Solution

The error message is harmless and can be ignored. Click OK to continue the installation.
