Restart or Shutdown of an ESX Server 3i Host Does Not Fail Over Virtual Machines to Other Hosts in the Cluster (1003009)

Details

In an HA-enabled cluster, virtual machines do not fail over when their host is restarted or shut down without maintenance mode through the VI Client or the SDK. Virtual machines do fail over when their host is physically powered off.

This is an issue with ESX Server 3i hosts only.

Solution

This issue has been resolved with fixes to VirtualCenter. Please upgrade your VirtualCenter Server to 2.5 Update 1 or higher.
