ESX Server 3i DHCP Configuration Might Fail at Startup
Details
With some network configurations, an ESX Server 3i host might take longer than expected to acquire a DHCP lease. If this occurs, the local user interface displays the message:
Warning: DHCP lookup failed. You may be unable to access this system until you customize its network configuration.
Solution
To configure networking, you must access the system console, either physically or through a remote console utility, such as DRAC or iLO:
- Press F2.
-
Choose Restart Management Network to force the DHCP client to reload.
Alternatively, configure the host to use a static IP address rather than DHCP.
