Modified VMware Converter Cold Clone CD fails to boot

Details

Customizing the VMware Converter Cold Clone CD and using the PETool to inject the drivers makes the resulting disc unbootable.
The boot process fails early in the Windows PE startup process.
The following error is seen while booting the disc:

File txtsetup.oem caused an unexpected error (18) at line 1896 in D:\Srvrtm\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c

Solution

When preparing the ISO image with PETool, ensure to specify the driver folder in uppercase characters. For example, c:\temp\DRIVER.

The PETool is case sensitve and will not find the drivers if the directory it not specified exactly as what is in the CD/DVD-ROM device. For more information on adding drivers to the VMware Converter Cold Clone CD, see Adding additional drivers to the VMware Converter Cold Clone ISO (1012947).
