This article provides best practices and advanced features for a VMware High Availability (HA) environment.
Solution
Each new version of VirtualCenter Server provides new features that you can configure to change how VMware HA functions. You can configure the features using VMware Infrastructure (VI) Client. The following is a list of features available in each version of VirtualCenter Server.
VirtualCenter 2.0.0+:

Setting the preferred failover host

Changing the default isolation response address
VirtualCenter 2.0.2+:

Changing the default timeout for failure and isolation detection

Setting multiple isolation response addresses
VirtualCenter 2.5.0+:

Changing the default isolation response settings at the cluster level

Adjusting the default slot size used for HA admission control

Individual virtual machine failure monitoring (Experimental)
