After Upgrading An ESX Server Host, Installing Wyse Multimedia Support Fails From Command Line (1001607)

Details

After upgrading ESX Server 3.0.1 to ESX Server 3.0.2, using the command line to set up Wyse Multimedia Support fails to install the necessary DLLs on Windows 2003 Server.

Solution

ESX Server 3.0.1 did not include Wyse Multimedia Support. As a result, after an upgrade from ESX Server 3.0.1 to ESX Server 3.0.2, using the command Setup.exe /S /v”/qn INSTALL_WYSE=1 in Windows Server 2003 virtual machines fails to install the DLLs for Wyse Multimedia Support.

To work around this issue, do not use the command line. Instead, use the VMware Tools installer to install Wyse Multimedia Support and the DLLs will be properly installed.
