Backups Fail if the Virtual Machine Name Contains Spaces (1001592)

Details

When you use VMware Consolidated Backup (VCB) in conjunction with Symantec Netbackup or Symantec BackupExec and configure VCB to use virtual machine names instead of DNS names or IP addresses to identify virtual machines, backup will fail for virtual machines with names that contain spaces.

Solution

Use DNS or IP addresses to identify virtual machines for backup (the default VCB setting) or rename the virtual machines.

Note: Older versions of VCB can use only DNS names or IP addresses to identify virtual machines, so they are not affected by this issue.
