Solution
This is a known issue with VMware Converter 3.0.0 to 3.0.3. VMware is currently working on a permanent resolution to this issue.
To work around the problem:
-
Use a disk imaging tool to clone the source into an image file.
-
Create a new virtual machine.
-
Use the disk imaging tool inside the virtual machine to restore the disk image back onto the virtual hard disk.
-
Open VMware Converter and choose Reconfigure.
-
Reconfigure the newly created virtual machine to make it startable as a virtual machine.
