ESX Server 2.5.5: Unable to Restore Data Backed Up Using Commvault 6.1 SP4 Server in Windows Virtual Machine

I am trying to restore some files that I backed up using Commvault 6.1 SP4 Server. The restoration fails with the following error:

MediaAgent [comv-61sp4] failed to connect back to CommCilent[blr-cpd-45]. Please check the network connectivity between the client and MediaAgent, and verify that the MediaAgent's name resolution for the client's host name.

One or more archive files could not be found.Archive files may have been pruned. The restore results will not be complete.

Phase[restore], for job[30] will be restarted.

The process then moves to the pending state, restarts itself, and the above errors repeat.
 
How do I resolve this problem?

Solution

During installation of the Commvault backup agents (MediaAgent for Windows and iDA Agent for Linux), the system asks for the server name or IP address.

 
To avoid this problem, give the IP address of the Commvault server instead of the name.
