ESX Server 2.5.5: Installation of IBM Director 5.20.1 Using ISO Fails (1001287)

My installation of IBM Director 5.20.1 using ISO fails with the following error message:

This package of IBM Director Agent 5.20.1 does not support VMware 2.5.x. Obtain VMware 2.5.x support from the IBM Director Agent web package located on the IBM Director download website.
 
How do I resolve this?

Solution

To resolve this issue, perform the following steps.

  1. Download the tar file dir5.20.1_agent_linux.tar instead of the ISO image from IBM Web site:

    https://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/iwm/web/preLogin.do?source=dmp

  2. Save the tar file in a temporary directory in service console, such as /tmp .

  3. Extract the tar file by running the command:

    tar zxvf dir5.20.1_agent_linux.tar

  4. Go to /tmp/FILES/

  5. Run the command:

    ./dir5.20.1_agent_linux.sh

    The installation starts immediately.

  6. Manually start the service by running the command:

    /opt/ibm/director/bin/twgstart

    You can then verify the installation by running the command:

    /opt/ibm/director/bin/twgstatus
