Error messages similar to the following are logged in /var/log/vmware/esxcfg-firewall.log during installation of ESX Server:

2007-06-05 19:52:33 (1529) ERROR: Panic! Stack trace follows:

Solution

These error messages, displayed before first boot, are not indicative of any malfunction of the ESX server and can be ignored.
