IPSec error within a Windows virtual machine
Details
- A virtual machine does not have network connectivity even though all other virtual machines on the same virtual switch can access the network
- Within the virtual machine, the Event Viewer shows event ID 4292 and shows the error:
The IPSec driver has entered Block mode. IPSec will discard all inbound and outbound TCP/IP network traffic that is not permitted by boot-time IPSec Policy exemptions.
Solution
If the IPSec policy is corrupted or if it is misconfigured, all network traffic is blocked by default.
You must disable the IPSec service and reboot the virtual machine.
If disabling IPsec and rebooting does not resolve this issue or if you require IPsec, contact Microsoft for further troubleshooting support. For more information, see the Microsoft article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/870910.
