Using Your ACE Option Pack

If you have purchased the Workstation ACE Option Pack, you now have the ability to add control, security, and management to the desktop virtual machines you create in Workstation 6. You also have the ability to deploy those virtual machines to portable flash media, so you can run your virtual desktop from nearly anywhere.

The ACE Option Pack is an upgrade for Workstation 6 and does not require you to install any additional software. For more information about ACE functionality, visit http://www.vmware.com/go/ace/.

Solution

To install the ACE Option Pack and Client License Keys:

  1. Make sure you have properly installed Workstation 6.

  2. ACE Option Pack Key. Go to the Help menu in Workstation 6, choose Enter Serial Number, and enter your ACE Option Pack key to unlock ACE authoring capabilities.

  3. ACE Client License Key. This license key (list price US $99) is included free with your ACE Option Pack and is used to enable another PC to run an ACE virtual machine. For example, the Pocket ACE feature enables you to deploy your virtual machine to be run from a portable flash media device. Deploying an ACE, such as a Pocket ACE, to another PC requires an ACE Client License Key. Simply enter this key after powering on your ACE for the first time by going to the VMware Player > Enter ACE Client License menu item and entering this key.
