Installing ESX Server 3.0.0 or 3.0.1 on Sunfire V40Z Server with Dual-Core AMD Opteron Processors

ESX Server 3.0.0 or 3.0.1 may not install properly on Sunfire V40z servers with the following specs:

The server has BIOS revision 2.35.3.2 installed.
The server is equipped with four dual-core AMD 890 Opteron processors and 32GB of RAM.

Follow the steps below to perform ESX Server 3.0.0 or 3.0.1 installation on the Sunfire V40z servers:

Go into BIOS setup by pressing F2 during system boot.
After entering BIOS setup, select Advanced,and then Chipset Configuration. Use the Tab or arrow keys to select SRAT Table and Disable. Press F10 to save the changes and hit ESC to reboot.
Install ESX Server 3.0.0 or 3.0.1.
After ESX Server 3.0.0 or 3.0.1 installation completes, re-enter BIOS setup during system boot to re-enable SRAT Table. Select Advanced, and then Chipset Configuration. Use the Tab or arrow keys to select SRAT Table and Enable. Press F10 to save your changes and ESC to reboot.
