Fedora Core 6 Virtual Machines Require LSI Logic Adapters

Details

I'm trying to install Fedora Core 6 in a virtual machine. I get to the step about partitioning the hard disk, and I get the error message, "An error has occurred--no valid devices were found on which to create new file systems." What's going on?

Solution

This message appears because Fedora Core 6 cannot install on a system that uses a BusLogic SCSI adapter.

To resolve this issue, when you use the New Virtual Machine wizard and are prompted to choose a guest operating system version, choose Other Linux 2.6.x Kernel. This selection uses an LSI Logic adapter.
