Guest Crashes If Display Settings Specify Too Large a Size on Too Many Monitors

Details

If you are using multiple monitors and manually configure the display resolution in the guest to a combined size that is larger than the guest VRAM supports, the guest might crash.

If you have configured your virtual machine to support two or more monitors, and you then edit the guest's display settings (Start > Control Panel > Display) to set all the monitors to use their maximum display resolution (3200x1770), the amount of virtual video memory (VMRAM) required exceeds that supported by the virtual SVGA driver.

As a result, the guest crashes.

Solution

Avoid manually setting the guest display resolution from within the guest to very large sizes across multiple monitors. If it is possible, avoid changing guest display settings directly.
