XFCE4 Default Icon Theme Can Cause a Core Dump

If you are using XFCE4 and you select default for the icon theme of the user interface, you might see a core dump. This core dump can happen on older versions of XFCE and on Mandriva 2007.

Solution

To resolve this issue, either switch the icon theme to something other than default, or run Workstation (the vmware program) with an option to force it to use VMware's bundled GTK. To do the latter, use the following command in a terminal window:

VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_GTK=force vmware
