Pocket ACE Is Storing Session Data on a Remote File System and Displays the Error Message, "This Pocket ACE may have reduced performance."

Details

When your Pocket ACE is running with a cache on a remote file system, you might receive a warning message:

This Pocket ACE may have reduced performance. This Pocket ACE is storing session data in <cache directory> which is on a remote file system. You can improve performance by using local storage for session data. See <URL> for more information.

The default cache directory on a Windows system is Local Settings/Application Data/VMware/Roaming VM Cache. The default cache directory on a Linux system is ~/.vmware/roamcache.

You received this message because the cache directory is on a remote file system which can hinder the performance of your Pocket ACE. A Pocket ACE cache is encrypted whether it is stored locally or remotely.

Solution

In your preference file, set pref.roamingVM.cacheDir to a directory on your local system. The preference file is located in the Documents and Settings/<user name>/Application Data/VMware directory on Windows systems, or in your <home directory>/.vmware on Linux systems.
