Delay Separating Prompts Between Failed Logon Attempts Cannot Be Modified

Details

The Department of Defense (DoD) requires that computers that connect to the DoD network comply with STIGs (Security Technical Implementation Guides). For UNIX systems, the STIGs specify that the delay between login prompts after a failed login be set to at least four seconds. The service console on ESX Server 3.0.x hosts does not satisfy this STIG requirement.

Solution

Currently, the delay between failed login attempts is set to 3 seconds and cannot be modified.
