IBM-LSI Firmware Updater with VMware vSphere 5.0 (2008781)

Symptoms

This article provides information about the IBM-LSI Firmware Updater (ILFU) CIM provider for IBM SystemX servers to update firmware on LSI-based storage controllers under the VMware vSphere 5.0 with IBM Customization Image. The provider installs LSI firmware update packages for EXSi. The FUPB provider uses the ILFU provider.

Resolution

Supported hardware and/or software

Installation can be done in one of two ways:

  • Load the VMware vSphere 5.0 with the IBM Customization Image via the ISO image or via the image available on a USB key, with the providers included.
  • Download the separate CIM-provider bundle and then install the providers on vSphere 5.0 via the vSphere CLI.

With the IBM providers, IBM ToolsCenter and IBM Systems Director will be able to manage a system with ESXi 5.0.
